Paul J. Riley, an accomplished artist and designer, has had a life full of diverse experiences that have shaped his artistic style. After graduating from the Royal College of Art in the UK, where he specialized in industrial design, he went on to design innovative products such as a plastic spoon for Haagen Dazs and a keyring for Vivienne Westwood.
In addition to his design work, Paul also pursued a music career as an independent musician under the name "Paul J. Riley." His music showcases his unique style and raw talent and can be found on Spotify and youtube.
In 2016, Paul built his own house in Grenada and has since been a permanent resident. He rediscovered his passion for painting in 2019 after a hiatus of over 30 years. His work is deeply personal and explores the energy that links us and the possibility of a higher power. He draws inspiration from the Welsh Hills and the Caribbean light and color, which he uses to create captivating and thought-provoking works.
Paul's extensive design background is evident in his artwork, which showcases a Modern Art style with a unique Caribbean twist. Whilst not trained as a painter he uses his training as a designer to create works that are visually stunning and thoughtfully crafted. His art is a reflection of his experiences, both positive and negative, and he hopes that it will inspire others to make every day count and to redirect their own critical voices.
Despite living with a constant barrage of self-criticism, Paul's art has helped him to quiet these voices and redirect his various addictions. His work is a testament to his resilience and his desire to make being alive mean something.
